Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada began her professional career in 1981 with a fashion show of her first collection in Madrid, in the new Design Center: LOCAL. Her stunning dresses were only sold in her store in Madrid. She was already exhibiting her clothes, hand-painted designs  in prestigious galleries in Madrid and Barcelona.

Agatha's electrique, colorful, soft, silly taste, is careful in her time: it explores the styles, shapes, materials and colors with a generosity and an unparalleled inventiveness. She also creates fashion accessories, perfumes, jewelry, shoes, toys, stationery, books, linens, home textiles, furniture, and even wine bottle lables ... Spain began to be coloured by Agatha.

Agatha is passionate about contemporary art and avant-garde artistic expression, it applies to her modern taste in fashion, but also by creating or working in many art events:

In 1998, she created an installation "Wedding Dress tiling for the IVAM (Valencian Institute of Modern Art).

The exhibition Homage to Chillida, a collection of dresses on the themes of the great Basque sculptor was on display at the National Museum Reina Sofia in Madrid in 1997 and the Würth Museum in Germany in 1999.

The exhibition "Arte e / o Moda" at the Milan Triennale in 2005, she took fashion to museums in the Design Biennial in Liege in 2006 and with "Color, dibujos y trajes" to the Foundation of La Caixa Barcelona in 2007.

Today, Agatha is an icon for using vivid colours and pure, geometric forms and an entire symbolic language consisting of hearts, clouds and flowers. She has created a unique identity that distinguishes her from many other designers.
